René Calvin is worldwide one of the most inspiring bass players and composers of Afro-Brazilian Jazz.

While born and raised in Cameroun, he always admired Brazilian artists like Baden Powell. Without any musical education, he found himself playing for famous jazz, pop and rock artists like Alicia Keys and George Clinton.

At forty, he discovered his biological father was Brazilian, which completely changed his life and music. Influences of Bossa Nova, Samba, Flamenco and classical music were injected in his afro-funk-jazz compositions.
